Father’s Day Gift Ideas For Men Who Are Retired

Hello, Darlings! Today I am going to share Father’s Day Gift Ideas For Men Who Are Retired. My husband retired last year from his corporate job in banking where he wore suits every day. So when he retired, we need to do a whole wardrobe change. Gone are the heavy suits, suit pants, button-up shirts, ties. Now we need a casual wardrobe that will function for his new lifestyle, but still give him the style elements he likes.

Father’s Day is a great opportunity to fill in the gaps in his wardrobe with some key pieces.

For Shirts For Father’s Day -Johnnie O

Since I have introduced him to the newer fabrics he is totally hooked. One of his favorite brands is Johnnie O, he especially likes their 4 Button Polo Shirts. The fabric is cotton/spandex so you have the cool feel of cotton, but the added spandex keeps the shirts looking nice and gives stretch.

Johnnie O makes not only the Original 4 Button Polo Style but also has the McMann Performance Polo. This shirt is great for golf with moisture-wicking fabrics. You will also find official NCAA apparel and some US Open apparel.

For Summer Shorts- Columbia PFG Tamiami Shorts

My husband is 6’3 and is very particular about the length of his shorts. So I introduced him to the Columbia PFG Tamiami Shorts with Omni Shield sun protection. He was used to heavy twill shorts and fell immediately in love with the lightweight fabric. The great thing about this particular short is the classic Bermuda style. They come in an 8 or 10-inch inseam ( my husband chose the 10). Plus they come in an array of colors (City Gray, Cool Gray, Navy, and Fossil are his favorites). These are the shorts he wears every day with his Johnnie O tops.

More Casual Shoes For Retirement Lifestyle- Skechers

After years of living in wingtip shoes and penny loafers, it is time to update my husband’s shoes to go with his new retirement wardrobe. He chose the Skechers Moreno Welmer Loafer in Navy for a casual shoe he can wear instead of athletic tennis shoes. The navy has a brown leather trim that elevates the look but it still has all the comfort factors associated with the Skechers brands. My husband has them in the navy and a brown/tan we bought last fall. Sketcher has several different Moreno styles to chose from.

Best, Most Comfortable Pant- ABC Commission Pant By Lululemon

I have talked about this pant before. It was like pulling teeth to get my husband to try these. The fact that they came from Lululemon, a store that is famous for its yoga pants, was a huge turn-off. But Lululemon has been the pioneer in the new Athleisure crazy, ahead of many retailers by years. The men’s line is full of great pants and shorts that are perfect for the retirement lifestyle as well as joggers and gym shorts.

Update your retirement wardrobe and add comfortable pants by Lululemon in performance fabrics. Perfect for everyday wear and especially travel.

These pants come in many colors and with their lightweight performance fabric and classic styling, they are a perfect replacement for the traditional “chino style/trouser style” dress pant. My husband wears them for church paired with one of his polos or casual button-up and on Date Nights. Once he tried on the pants, there was no turning back. The days of heavy cotton twill pants are gone.

Putting Together A Retirement Wardrobe

As I have found my Kettlewell Colours pieces that I can mix and match for everyday outfits, now he has the same benefit of color, newer fabrics, and more casual style clothing. With Covid restrictions easing every day and both of us fully vaccinated, it is time to start planning some travel adventures. We now have a great new capsule wardrobe for both of us that will make packing for trips easy. All that is left is the planning.
