Hello, Darlings! Today I am going to share with you Vacation Style- Mother’s Day Celebration Dinner. When I go to the beach, my wardrobe is mainly anything that goes with flip-flops and no bra. But we do like to have one night to dress up and go out someplace nice. My favorite restaurant on 30A is Surfing Deer, an upscale Asian influence seafood restaurant. A bit on the pricey side, it is a great place for Date Night or a celebration dinner.
This year we celebrated Mother’s Day early with Thursday Night dinner. This gave us all a chance to dress up and take lots of pictures. We usually like to dine outdoor on the patio, but they were only taking reservation for indoor seating (weather was iffy at time of reservation). It ended up being a gorgeous evening.
Vacation Style- Inspirational Colors
As I am working on my summer casual wardrobe, I am finding inspiration in the colors of 30A. Many of these colors are in my Winter Seasonal Color palette. The Cobalt blue sky, dark Sapphire waters of the Gulf of Mexico, the Blue Jewel and Aqua hues of the water, and the Emerald green that this area is famous for. The Florida vacation spot known as 30 A (named for the state highway 30 A) is called the Emerald Coast and has soft sugar-white beaches. So many of my vacation-style outfits are featuring these colors mixed with white or black to create colorful looks perfect not only for the beach but all summer long.
Inspiration For Wardrobe Colors From The Beach
Vacation Style- Mother’s Day Celebration Dinner
I was lucky to have 2 out of 3 of my children down at my beach house for the week of Mother’s Day. It was a relaxing week with incredible weather. The crowds were unusually large with this time of year and we had to make reservations to dine at my favorite restaurant, The Surfing Deer on a Thursday night instead of the weekend.
For my Mother’s Day Celebration outfit, I decided to go with a black halter top, black cropped pants, and my cork black wedges for the base of my outfit. Slimming but a little boring, I added my Cashmere Gauze Stole in Blue Jewel From Kettlewell Colours.
My Mother’s Day Celebration Dinner Outfit
I say boring, but this top is super sexy and extremely comfortable (minus the strapless bra you will want to wear). The Mock-Neck Banded Bottom Halter Style Top from Beyond Proper is a great addition to my summer wardrobe. This top run large so I suggest you size down.
Vacation Style- Halter Top
Another feature of this top is the back, ooo la la! Great top to show off your tan lines. Because I wanted to show off, okay, I am a bit of a Diva. I decided to carry a shawl for a wee bit of warmth but mostly to add a POP of color to my outfit.
Vacation Style- Keeping Jewelry Simple
With the summer coming on I don’t want to wear heavy statement necklaces, this top does not need it. With Pears, attention needs to be UP and OUT away from hips and thighs. This top draws attention UP and OUT. Up with the neckline and OUT showcasing my shoulders and tan skin. The wearing of the stole brings additional attention OUT.
Try Adding A Stole/Shawl For An Evening Look
This Cashmere Gauze Stole from Kettlewell Colours is a piece they keep in stock all year round. Some wear it as a scarf in the cooler months, but I like to use it as a shawl during the warmer summer month for evenings. It gives that POP of color and a little bit of warmth as the temperatures cool off in the evenings.
Couples Style- Coordinating Your Looks For Pictures
Do you coordinate your colors for pictures? We do not but this time we did a great job. I am thinking, “Great minds think alike”. Both enjoying the inspiration from the beach- surf, sand, sky. I introduced my husband to more athleisure/sports fabrics this year and he can not get enough of them. Gone are the heavy twill pants and cotton shirts that needed to be ironed or dry cleaned. Now he is enjoying the sport shirts from Johnnie O, and pants from Lululemon.
As COVID restriction are relaxed as more people are getting vaccinated, including the mask mandate, I look forward to going out more and traveling to different areas of the country. My husband retired just before COVID lockdowns so we have not had the opportunity to travel. Starting to make a bucket list of places I would like to go that are in the US. Right now I am enjoying my little bit of paradise known as 30 A.
