Hello, Darlings! Happy Fall Y’all! Let’s Talk Fall Decor. The weather has turned crisps and it has me in the perfect mood for fall decorating. I don’t go crazy but I do like a little “pumpkin spice” in my life.

This is usually a super busy time of the year, but with COVID things have slowed down and I can enjoy decorating.
Happy Fall Y’all- Let’s Talk Fall Decor

Front Door Fall Decor
Usually, decorating for fall has a unique problem. It is too hot, not this year. Here in Alabama, we can have 90’s and even 100’s into October. In the past, I had a fall wreath literally melt off my door into a gooey mess. Don’t even try putting mums on the front porch because the heat of the sun will burn them to a crisp before the day is up.

My neighborhood used to be the “It” place for trick or treating and people would go all out to decorate. But things have changed and last year I only had 3 trick or treaters, the next-door neighbor’s kids. I basically dumped my entire bowl of candy in their bags and called it a night. Kinda sad.

To get my Halloween fix in, our church does an event called, Trunk or Treat. People decorate their cars, sit around in chairs, and give out candy. It is a fun event. But this year, with COVID, it is canceled- bummer. I usually take my front porch decor to decorate my car.

This year I toned down my front porch decor, a simple wreath from Balsam Hill, added pumpkins, and this great sign from Etsy
Fall Decorations At The Lake

We celebrate Thanksgiving at the lake so I spend extra time decorating for fall. Plus the colors up at the lake are perfect for fall decorations. Fall at the lake is one of my favorite times of the year. Everything slows down and instead of emphasis on water fun, activities such a hiking, reading books, or just hanging out by the fire pit become the norm.

Because we have Thanksgiving dinner up at the lake, I have 2 great table arrangements I made up several years ago. Using an artificial foam pumpkin for a vase, the arrangement is filled with fall flowers/picks. It is easily stored for next year.

The lake mantel is the perfect place to go wild with decor. This year I added new garland from Balsam Hill, along with a matching wreath for the front door.

Decorating For Fall-Modern Farmhouse Style
The newest trend in fall decor is the Modern Farmhouse Style. The decor goes with light and white interiors, with a more muted color scheme. My daughter’s house is perfect to showcase this style

Mantle decor is much lighter and brings is colors of white, light green, and white washed orange

Textures are big in the Modern Farmhouse style. Here a bowl of velvet pumpkins not only show a more muted palette, but also have unique texture.

Great decor piece can be found for decorating bookshelves. You will see items such a graphic lettering signs,

Even the front porch decor is more muted in color and blend into house. More emphasis is placed on natural elements such a wood, with grapevine wreaths.

Heading The Beach
I do not decorate the beach house for fall. Basically, fall at the beach is the BEST time of year (Summer 2.0). The air is cleaners, the evenings and mornings crisp. The water is usually clearer and still warm. Perfect for long walks or my favorite, reading a book/napping under the umbrella at the beach.

This year we have already had a couple of cooler spells with rain, so my pool heater is ready (just got it fixed). I look forward to sitting by the pool and reading more books. Beach time is therapy. The best kind!

You can find fall decor at the beach. I will post some of my finds on Instagram. One of my favorite home decor shops in Grayton Beach, Beau Interiors knows how to bring the fall, but still work with the beach color hues.

Next, some fall fashions! Last week at the lake I finally took blog pics of some of the pieces I recently purchased from Kettlewell Colours to add to my wardrobe. Take pics of outfits is a great way to decide whether an item is a keeper or a return.

Love the muted colors the best! Glad you are doing well on the keto diet! You look great! It’s been a tough year and I’m sorry its been rough for you. Take care and keep going.
Thanks, Carrie! I am working hard to pull myself out of the hole. At the beach now for some R&R. Hope you and your family are doing well.
HUGS!
