Hello, Darlings! Today we are going to talk about fashion, Pear-Shaped Body-Transitioning Into Fall. September in the South is NOT Fall, it is summer 2.0. But it is a great time to check your wardrobe and make sure you have the items you need to transition into the fall season.
Recently I did a Wardrobe Check to make sure that the essential pieces in my wardrobe fit and were in good shape.
Pear-Shaped Body-Transitioning Into Fall

Dressing Rules For A Pear-Shaped Body
The rules for a pear-shaped body are simple. You want the attention up and out, away from hips. This means keeping your pants a darker color and bringing color up towards your face.
Rules For Tops
For tops, choose a color that is in your tone (warm or cool) that is lighter than your pants. Or you can choose a color that is the same as your pants to create a “column of color” that is slimming. For pears, your top should not be darker than your pants because your eye naturally goes to the lightest color.
Rules For Pants/ Jeans
Pants/Jeans for pears should be bootcut to balance out the hip area. That does not mean you can’t wear skinny jeans. They are not the best shape for pears, but if you do wear them make sure it is dark denim or black.
Rules For Jackets/Sweaters
Jackets and sweaters are a pear-shaped body’s friend. They help a pear body shape by bringing attention out and balance the hips by making the shoulders look larger. Chose a color and have fun. The only rule with sweaters and jackets is to make sure they do not hit at the widest part of your body. Look for cropped or longer styles.
Rules For Accessories
Pear-shaped body type should take advantage of accessories such as statement necklaces, earrings, and scarves that bring attention to the face. Stay away from belts unless they are the same color as your pants.
Transitioning Into Fall- Start With Pants/Jeans
It is time to try them on to make sure they fit. I have one pair of skinny jeans to wear with long tops and higher cut boots.
Boot cut jeans are my favorite. They make me look better proportioned and slimmer. I have 2 pairs of dark wash bootcut jeans My favorite brand is the Wit & Wisdom Itty Bitty Absolution Boot Cut Jean From Nordstrom. I have 2 pairs of these dark wash jeans, one in petite to wear with flats, and one in regular to wear with booties.

Also, I have 2 pairs of these boot cut jeans in black-one petite and another regular. This is what I wear all winter long
For pants, I have 3 pairs of black pants. I love the Traveler’s Collection from Beyond Proper. In my closet, you will find my favorite pant for transitional weather: Beyond Proper Traveler’s Cropped Pant in black

Basic Tops For Layering In Cooler Fall Weather
Layering is one of the best ways to deal with the transitional weather of fall. Here in the south, we don’t need sweaters for the outside temperatures, but the inside a/c is blasting and a lightweight sweater is perfect. Later when the outside temperature falls, you are already prepared.
Camisoles

I started a collection last year of camisoles. This is where you can have fun with animal prints. I love the zebra prints. Many camisoles come with a built-in shelf bra.

Tanks Top For Wardrobe Staple
Tanks tops are a staple in my closet. I don’t like wearing a strapless bra, so most of my tank tops are built so I can wear a regular bra. These are great for laying all year long. Chico’s has a great supply of their Micro Fiber Tanks Tops in an array of colors. I added this gorgeous

Sweaters/Jackets That Flatter A Pear Shaped Body
For jackets, look for shorter “cropped style or moto”. Most blazers will hit at the widest part of your body and make you look heavier. It is all about visual balance. Look for wider labels that will draw your eye out. Moto Style Jacket

Short Lightweight Sweaters For Pear-Shaped Body
Shorter sweaters are very flattering for a pear-shaped body. You want your sweater to hit above the widest part of your body.

Longer sweaters For Pear-Shaped Body

For pear-shaped body type, you want to make sure you longer sweaters hit below the widest part of your body. Avoid sweaters with buttons as they draw attention in and down. Prints are great fun but avoid horizontal stripes, it will make you look larger. Petites have a little problem with duster style sweaters, but if you do, wear with black pants and boots/shoes to make you appear taller.

Creating A Column Of Color With Shoes/Boots
For pears, especially petite pear shaped body type, creating a column of color is essential to make you look taller and thinner. Look for boots and shoes that match or are darker than your pants.

Does this mean I can’t wear tan color or animal skin boot? No, you can wear what you want and love, just remember that it will cut you off and make you look shorter. Also, we want attention to our faces, not our feet.
Adding A Scarf To Complete The Look

Scarves in the fall are so much fun. But they are a FABULOUS accessory to help balance a pear-shaped body. Bright colors and plaids bring attention up to the face.

Make sure you chose a scarf color that is in your color wheel (cool or warm tone). Be careful of blanket scarves, they can add too much weight on top and make you look heavy. Also, make sure the tail ends of the scarf are not too long. This can bring attention to the stomach and hip area. An infinity scarf is one of the best styles for pears.

Build A Wardrobe That Is Flattering To Your Body
Yes, I have big hips and I am overweight. But I still want to look my best. By working with my pear-shaped body type and choosing clothing that will balance and flatter my shape, I can achieve an Instagram worthy look.

Thanks for the terrific summary Regan! I am a pear shape as well. Great tips for me to keep in mind. Appreciate it. Stay safe in AL! We are having thick smoke coming up from the west coast fires. Unpleasant to be outdoors: sore throats and eyes. Praying for the firefighters and families affected.
Been praying for ya’ll and the wildfires. Fire is scary!!!!
