During this downtime, I am trying to do more reading and less social media and tv. So today I am sharing My Reading List For The New Year. I love to read, but I didn’t always. As a matter of fact, I love it so much that I changed my living room into a library to store all my books.

Are You A Book Or Kindle Person?
Are you a book or a Kindle person? I am both. My electronic reader is the iPad with the Kindle App. I absolutely love the ease of downloading a new book and reading it immediately. But I also love the feel of a physical book in my hand. I also love to “revisit” all friends ( my books). Bookstores are dangerous to me. I can spend hours going through them, especially second-hand stores where I find “surprises”.
Love Good Book Recommendations
I am always asking people for book recommendations and new authors to try. Authors who do series where characters show up in different books are my favorites. My taste is mainly light-hearted romances, simple mysteries, and some inspirational and devotional books.
What I Am Currently Reading
After a month of Hallmark Movies, I love a good romance book where you basically know it will be a happy ending.
Sharon Sala – Blessings, Georgia Series (9 books)
This author has been writing books forever. I think this is an older series under a different name, new look that has been updated. If you like authors such as Debbie Macomber, you will like these books. Very quick reads.
My sister left me a stack of books at the beach house last summer. During the holidays I decided to dive into them. Most were from the author Carolyn Brown. This author has been writing for a long time, most of her books are set in Texas or Oklahoma. They read like a Hallmark Movie, very predictable, sweet romances.
These are the ones I have read so far. I still have a stack of them waiting. Most of Carolyn Brown’s books are offered as part of Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited.
My daughter has put me on to several authors to read this year. Most of the books would make excellent life group or bible study books.
The first book in my stack is Rhythms of Renewal – Trading Stress And Anxiety For A Life Of Peace and Purpose. . This book also has a DVD and study guide if you would like to use it for a life group or bible study.
The next book is one I gave to one of my sisters’ in-laws for Christmas. I love giving books for the holidays. She was very excited and has already started to read it.
Present Over Perfect: Leaving Behind Frantic For A More Simpler Life, More Soulful Way Of Living In my stack, I have Bread and Wine: A Love Letter Of Life Around The Table (with recipes). It is a collection of stories and essays celebrating friendships and relationships and the power that mealtime has to bring us together.
I gave this book to my other sister in law and she is loving it. This book would make an excellent book club, life group, or bible study read. Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World: Finding Intimacy with God in the Busyness of Life. It includes a 12-week bible study to help you focus the new year.
I have several books that I am looking forward to for summer and beach reads, but for now, I will enjoy the “quieter day” of winter.
If you have a favorite author and a book you just LOVE, comment below and I will add it to my list. Personal recommendations are always the BEST
