Hello, Darlings!
I have been a decorating elf so I am ready to show you how I Deck The Halls- Decorating For Christmas. In the last couple of years, I have updated my Christmas decor to include battery-operated wreaths and garland. I am a traditional red and green kind of gal for Christmas decor.

Deck The Halls- Decorating Outside For Christmas
With the kids gone, I have paired back my outdoor decorating. I figure when grandbabies come I will take it up a notch. But for now, I have focused my outdoor decor on my porch.

Deck The Halls- Decorating The Foyer
I love grand entrances, it sets the tone for the whole house. With high ceilings and stairwells, this foyer screams color/lights/bows. All my greenery is battery lit and came from Balsam Hill.

Deck The Halls- Decorating With Plants
My Christmas Cactus is blooming mad and is perfect for the entry foyer. I love showing off my green thumb. The poinsettias are from Dan’s retirement party and I love the variegated color.

Deck The Halls- The Cozy Den
With the cold wind blowing, my den is the best place to snuggle with a book or watch a Hallmark Movie. I have hung my fur-lined stockings and trimmed the tree in red and gold. The den is where you will see my animal print pillows and blankets. Finally, I have my Yankee Candle Balsam & Cedar Candle burning- the smell is incredible

Deck The Hall- Simple Touches
Even though I have pared down my decor this year, I still have several “simple touches” that set the mood for the home. My manger scene has been a fixture for many years. I also like to set our family bible, marking the Christmas story in Luke. The bathroom has a choir of angels singing.

One of my favorite Secret Santa gifts is this nightlight. This whimsical decor helps light the halls for my early mornings during the holidays

Hope you are having fun “Decking The Halls” for the holidays. I still have to add some extra ribbon and go get D Batteries for the wreaths (harder to find then you would think). I am not hosting any parties nor any big family gatherings this year. But I am dressing up my home for ME. I love the feel of the festive decor on these bleak rainy cold days (no snow here). But mostly on the early nights. It seems to help me stay awake longer.

Distinctly Southern Style
Thanks, Rosemary! With the kids gone, I am comforted by some older routines but am making some newer ones. But many of my Christmas traditions and decor brings back wonderful memories.
I love your home and how you decorated! Tasteful and elegant perfection! I’ve been trying to keep things simpler and get rid of things I haven’t used in awhile or have space for. It’s hard because I get rid of and then want something different so I buy more. It’s a legit problem I’m trying to deal with. Minimalist and hoarder tendency-it’s a difficult balance! I love your blog and agree with paring down in all areas.
