Hello, Darlings!
I don’t do New Year Resolutions. Shoot, I tend to break them before the Christmas decorations are down. So, I have been spending this week examining everyone’s resolutions to see what they are doing. Seems to be a lot of weight loss, get healthy and less spending, well DUH…. I need more than that, I need direction, I need a plan.

Many of my blogger friends who are quite eloquent in writing and verbiage have featured this idea of a WORD OF THE YEAR. Many of them are profound,

Create A Vision Board
Other friends are more visual and have created these incredible vision boards to help guide and motivate them. You can use a vision board to depict goals and dreams in all areas of your life, or in just one specific area that you are focusing on. Many people use vision boards as an important part of the annual goal-setting process. They help set and prioritize goals, values, and intentions. Vision boards can be fun to make and quite artistic/creative.
Examples Of Vision Boards
To be honest, I am not good at arts and crafts. I did not do well with the whole scrapbooking thing. Although, I am a “visual person”. I need things written down so I can examine them and mark them off. So for me, The LIST is an important tool. Specific tools I use are the old fashion yellow pads you can buy at any office supply place. I buy them in bulk. Next is a box of Crayola or Sharpie colored markers.
The List Is My Favorite Tool

Okay, I have my favorite tools but I still don’t have any direction. I am a practical gal, so after examining where I am and where I want to go in this stage of life, I have decided to select a WORD OF THE YEAR to help me get started. Plus, it seems to be the cool things to do. My word is ………..simplify.
My Word Of The Year

Boring, but very practical, the word simplify is perfect for this stage in life. As a Midlifer and Empty Nester, my life is a mess. Full of clutter and stuff both physical and mental, many days I can’t think or move. I am frozen, can’t go forward nor can I go back until I deal with the “life’s clutter”. Everything is hard, too much too do, too many directions, too much to think about. I need to simplify my life to help me destress and examine what truly matters. Only then can I truly get a clear direction and focus.

The months of January is going to be dedicated to getting a plan on how I am going to simplify my life and clear out the clutter. I invite you to join me on this journey in hopes that it will help you find

Happy New Year!! I love the idea of doing a vision board. I think it’s fun and a great way to sit down and think about what you want out of life or at least out of the new year.
No word for me this year. Your blog is darling! It’s my first time here but not my last!
I was chuckling, as I too,Ike the idea of a vision board, but I’m not crafty either!! Like usaid….but with enough 🍷🙂
I set goals I hope to acheive, but may be a tad overzelous. Love your word clarity. I certainly need more and am a list maker too

I love that resolutions are finally out this year. I love these new ways of starting a New Year positively. I’m searching for a simpler existence. I’m not sure how to get it – so maybe I should take time out to visualise it etc. You have some great ideas here. Happy New Year lovely xx
Yes I have seen this word of the year and I do like the concept. Though I have not come up with one of my own. I like the word that you choose and totally agree that de cluttering is a must if focusing only simplifying. I hope your week is off to a great start and happy Tuesday!

Hi Reagan this is my first visit to your blog although I follow you on Instagram. You plan for 2019 sounds like just what you need. I’m a list girl too and I also don’t make resolutions. This year I’ve chosen two words ‘Commit’ and ‘Evolve’ because I want to continue to grow and learn and to share my experiences with others. I’ll check out your FB group and perhaps you might like to check out mine Sizzling Towards 60 & Beyond. Have a great 2019 and best of luck with your plans.

Regan, I love how you see things! You do seem to have a lot of balls in the air so Simplify is perfect. Thanks for all the possible “Words”, too!
P.S. Hit me up if you would like a hand with decluttering…that’s my passion!
Hi Regan, It’s my first time visiting your blog, and I really enjoyed your witty and humorous post!
I have tried vision boards in the past… that just doesn’t work for me. I need words and lists in my planner. Words I can refer to and things I can check off a list.
It’s interesting how everyone responds to different media.
I am going to jot down your list of words and incorporate monthly words in my planner.
Regan, Simplify is a perfect direction to head in the New Year! I love your list of possible words as well. Such a great post, so inspiring. I have chosen a phrase for the year “Think smaller in order to go bigger.” But I will also be discussing my word of the year next week on the blog. “Letting Go” will be my theme for 2019. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and your journey. This post will be featured on Tuesday’s #SpreadTheKindness Link Up right next to another post about choosing a word of the year.
