Hello, Darlings!
What To Wear For Night At The Theater. This week I was able to enjoy one of my favorite Disney movie on Broadway, Beauty and the Beast. Here in Birmingham, we have a very talented group at the Red Mountain Theater which works hard to bring quality performances to our city.
What To Wear For Night At The Theater

This year is no different. The performances include touring talent along with local talent. I have been blown away by the productions. Having seen Broadway shows in London and New York I can truly appreciate the talent we have here in our city. I don’t have to get on an airplane to see a quality broadway show, just a short drive downtown.
What To Wear For Night At The Theater-Black Cold Shoulder Maxi Dress

When I get a night out, I like to dress up but still want to “feel” casual. For the theater, especially for this performance, many people were very casual, which I did not like. I think going to the theater should be an event to dress up for. This night my husband and I were probably the most “dressed” for the evening. With second-row seats, everyone thought we were some honored guests. What I chose to wear to the theater was a long maxi, cold shoulder black dress I got from Chico’s last year.
Cold Shoulder For Drama And Style

There is something about a cold shoulder top/dress. It adds drama (which I like) and fun (which I love) to an outfit. What it also adds is attention up top. That is important for anyone, like me, who is pear shape and needs to draw attention away from the hips/stomach area. Plus black is ALWAYS slimming.
Add A Statement Necklace In Turquoise

I have to admit, I LOVE turquoise for the summer. I mix it with black, red, white, blues for a fresh look. This necklace is a multi-strand turquoise statement piece I got last year from Chico’s. This necklace is not as heavy as it looks. You will see me in this many times as it is one of my favorite pieces.
Large Statement Necklace

Here is an up-close look at the necklace. It has taken me some time to embrace such large pieces when I am a petite (5’1) but when you add them on top of a black background, they become a work of art. I also like that this necklace, most of the strands are at my neck. For those who are self-conscience of their neck area, a beaded multi-strand necklace works wonders.
The Complete Look, Black And Turquoise For Theater

I completed the look with a matching turquoise bracelet, gold disk earrings, and my black Gentle Souls shoes. With a scheduled salon visit that afternoon, I get to show off my new color and style. I felt special and well styled as we dined at Cafe Dupont (the scallops were incredible) and enjoyed the performance of Beauty and The Beast at the Fine Arts Academy.
I wore this dress last year for a similar look. Check out my other date night looks:

Thanks Jodie, I seem to gravitate to the black and turquoise combo. Next month we are having a girl’s night out and going to see Mama Mia at the theater
Beautiful turquoise necklace! It pairs so well with cold shoulder maxi dress and perfect outfit for an evening out! Those scallops look delicious and it looked like you saw a fantastic show!
