Okay, I am boring. I wear a monochromatic (one color-no design) tankini and skirt to beach. Hey, it is SLIMMING!!!! But I have learned to take my beach game to a whole new level by adding ACCESORIES !!!! In the previous post Beach Sun Hats, we learned that hats are the IT thing this year. Now, lets take our “beach dressing game” to a whole new level by adding JEWELRY. Don’t break out the diamonds, but there are lots of fun fashion jewelry pieces out there that can truly make a very boring bathing suit into a stylish look for the beach
One Question You MUST Ask
Am I going to get into the water? If the answer is YES, you need to look for waterproof pieces. Good news is that many fashion jewelry pieces will work. Hot trend right now is the leather and freshwater pearl. If you are going to “play in the wave”, I suggest taking off your pieces before entering the water.
If the answer is NO– A whole new world opens up. Summer is a great time to stock up on some “beach friendly jewelry”. I love pieces with a beach motif. Look for pieces with shells, starfish, sea glass, and turquoise. I focus on necklaces, but don’t forget bracelets. Layer different kinds of bracelets for a unique look. If I wear earrings, I usually go for something simple like a stud.
After the beach, I do rinse the piece I have worn in fresh water and pat dry. Especially if there is a chance they got wet. Salt water and sand are not kind to jewelry and will corrode and rust over time. I now have a collection of “go to ” beach necklaces .
Check out local beach shops for great ideas on beach jewelry. It does not have to be expensive, matter of fact, I recommend that it is not in case it gets ruined by salt water. Last week at the beaches of 30A, I saw many women sporting the leather and freshwater pearl look. I don’t want to brag, but when I wore my beach necklace last week, I got a lot of compliments. The next day I noticed the person sitting next to me “upped her beach game” with a cool sea glass necklace and leather bracelet. GAME ON!! Just call me a trendsetter and style influencer!

These pieces came from Etsy. You can also find pieces similar to these at local stores along the beaches of 30 A. I love shopping local. My pieces came from a shop called Kathleens Kottage located over the Hwy 331 bridge in Santa Rosa Beach, Fl.
