Hello, Darlings! Today I am going to talk about Adding A Summer Jacket To Your Wardrobe. Mother Nature has been quite menopausal this year. We have had a delightful cool spring, and summer started off with a cold front that had our Memorial Day Weekend quite cold and windy. I needed a jacket. Here in Alabama we usually go from warm to very hot, very quickly. When that happens, the heat outside is hot and the air inside is FREEZING cold as everyone turns up their a/c units. I need a jacket.
Adding A Summer Jacket To Your Wardrobe
Adding A Summer Jacket- Think Color!
As many of you know, I am a big fan of the Kettlewell Colours pieces. Kettlewell Colours is a UK company that specializes in comfort clothing in many colors, focusing on the concept of the seasonal color palette. I was diagnosed in the early ’90s as a Winter and recently had an updated color analysis with Barbara Taylor of House of Colour Cummings. She rated my colors in my Winter Seasonal Color Palette, and I rated very high for all the jewel-tone colors. For the blue jewel tones, I rated them at 100%. When you rate high for color, that means it is a color you can wear in larger pieces such as a dress or coat. So when I saw this color, Blue Jewel in the Chloe Jacket, I knew it needed a place in my closet.
For Summer Jacket – Try Motto Style
The Chloe Jacket is a “motto style” or biker style jacket with zippers and large lapels. The jacket can either be worn zipped up or left open, each way giving it a different look. It is semi-fitted so I sized it up so that I can wear it zipped, making it slightly large on my shoulders. At around 23 inches long, it hits just above my widest part, on someone taller it would be considered “cropped”.
For Summer Jacket- Look At Fabric
The fabric in the Chloe Jacket is 100% cotton and feels to me like terry cloth. The weight of the fabric makes it perfect for a 4-season jacket here in the South. And because of the cotton fabric, Kettlewell can dye it in many colors, currently in 24 colors. They change out and add more colors as the year goes on. The fabric has some stretch to it which allows me to push up the sleeves.
Pair Your Summer Jacket With White
Many of my readers know I am experimenting with white denim cropped jeans this summer. Trying to find ways to make an outfit balanced and “Pear Friendly”. Not an easy task as white draws all the attention. So today I am going with a base layer of all white, known as a “column of color”. This creates a visual line that draws the eye UP. My cropped white denim jeans are the Gloria Vanderbilt Cropped Kick Jeans from Belk (less than $30 on sale).
Next, I added a POP of Blue Jewel in my Chloe Jacket with its wide lapels which continues to draw the eye up towards my face. A stone and wire statement necklace (old Chico necklace found on eBay), my large hoop earrings, and my OTBT Platform Wedges in Pewter complete the outfit. A fresh cool look that reminds me of the Caribbean.
