Hello, Darlings! Today’s post is My Favorite Christmas Gifts And Stocking Stuffers. I will be honest, I haven’t done a bunch of shopping this year. Except for my many Kettlewell Colours purchases (love their clothing), I have been working on pairing down my wardrobe, makeup, and beauty items.
With the holidays fast approaching and the need for gift ideas, I decided to jump on board and give you my list of favorites.
My Favorite Christmas Gifts & Stocking Stuffer Ideas
My Favorite Christmas Gifts-Kettlewell Colours Clothing
As this is my “Year Of Color” I discovered, quite by accident, Kettlewell Colours Clothing. A UK company that specializes in creating basic wardrobe pieces according to the seasonal color palettes created by House Of Colour.
Do you know what colors look good on you according to your skin tone and hair color? I had my “colors” done back in the ’80s by Color Me Beautiful. Knowing your colors helps you make better choices in selecting pieces for your wardrobe and makeup. With everything going video/pictures this year with COVID restriction, knowing how to look your best is a huge WIN!
Unfortunately due to COVID issues at their factories, Kettlewell Colours stock level is low. Okay… maybe I cleaned them out! But they are expecting a new shipment of colors in Feb/March just in time for Spring. Check out my Fashion Over 50- Kettlewell Colours post for more pics.
Great Gift Idea- Riki Lighted Make Up Mirror
I purchased the Riki Loves Riki Lighted Make Up Mirror during the Nordstrom Sale. WOW, I have really enjoyed being able to “see” my face and get rid of those chin and wild eyebrow hairs. It also helps me put on my makeup better. It also has a bunch of features like taking selfies and recording videos that I will check out in the future. But for now, it is a great, but expensive mirror.
I am always looking for statement necklaces because as a pear-shaped body I want attention up towards my face. Chicos always has great accessories and jewelry. Not much in the gift section this year for the holidays, but I picked up this necklace earlier and have been wearing it like mad.
A New Handbag- Brighton Barbados Zip Top Hobo Bag
Handbags are hard and very personal. I do not change out my handbags on a regular basis, too easy to lose stuff. Because of my petite pear shaped body, I have had trouble for years finding the right one. For me, the handbag can not be too long (no cross bodies) too big (no large satchels or shoulder bags). The hobo style seems to fit the bill, perfect size and hits me in the right place.
This year my big Christmas gift is the Brighton Barbados Zip Top Hobo Bag in Black. My old one (same style/same brand) had become worn and inside stained. I looked for something different, but in the end, decided I loved my old style best. So glad it was not discontinued!
Add To The Animal Collection With A Zebra Print Scarf
I love my cheetahs, leopards, and even some tiger stripes. This year ZEBRA print is hot.
Black and white are always a classic look. Have fun with the INC International Concepts Zebra Print Scarf from Macy’s.
Make Up Products For Christmas Gifts
This time of year is always a great time to do some decluttering and purging in your makeup drawer. Yes, makeup does go bad, especially mascara and lipsticks. With the “wearing of the masks” lipstick sales have fallen greatly, but if you are doing video conferencing for work you need to wear lipstick or you will look washed out.
My Favorite Lipstick
I have olive skin and need to wear lipstick with a lot of bold pigment to show up. I also wear/line my lips with a lip pencil in order to get better coverage and staying power.
My Favorite Eyeshadow Palettes
I love eyeshadow palettes because they travel so well and have all the colors you need for adding depth and blending in one place. My favorite eye palette, Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics has been discontinued. Here are some other recommendations
- Tarte Tartelett 2 Bloom Clay
- Urban Decay Naked 2 Basics (great started kit for teen girls)
- MAC Eyeshadow X 9- Dusty Rose
- Midnight Waltz Eye Shadow by Bobbi Brown (going in my stocking)
Travel Make Up Brushes
Too many times I have forgotten my make up brushes while traveling. Let me tell you, it is hard to put on eyeshadow with your finger. Now I have a travel set of brushes that I always keep in my travel bag.
Air Brushed Foundation
With all the blog pics I shoot, I have become addicted to the “airbrushed look”. I discovered Dior Airflash Spray Foundation, on the expensive side, this foundation gives you a flawless look. To apply you will need a foundation brush such as Sephora’s Pro Foundation Brush. Spray makeup on the brush and then pat it onto your face, blending with Beauty Blender sponge for a photo-worthy look. Perfect for wedding photos.
Because this makeup is so expensive, I suggest you get professionally matched at a local department store or Sephora Store. Sephora has their own airbrushed foundation, Perfection Mist Airbrush. It is a great way to try out the product to see if you like the look (at a much lower cost). Airbrush foundation is very drying so you will need to make sure you use a moisturizer and primer.
My Favorite Stocking Stuffers
Need some ideas for a stocking stuffer (for you or the girls)? I don’t like to wear “house shoes” or slippers but can’t stand for my feet to be cold. Each year I add these Black Textured Chenille Socks from Target as stocking stuffers. At $3 you can choose from 5 colors.
What Is Going On In My Home
My house is all decorated and I am working on some small organizing projects. Unfortunately several of the annual Christmas parties have been canceled this year. I am not a big party person, but this year I really miss the opportunity to get out of the house and meet with people. Even this introvert is getting antsy.
