Hello, Darlings! Today is Fashion Over 50 – Introducing Kettlewell Colours. I talked about this company earlier this year, Pear-Shaped Body: Transitioning Into Fall. Kettlewell Colours a UK clothing company that specialized in fashion in a variety of colors according to the 4 main seasonal color palettes.
We want to look our best all year round. Not just when “our colors” are in season. My goal this year has been to re vamp my wardrobe to make sure that all pieces fit my unique body type, are in my seasonal color palette, and match my personality
Fashion Over 50 – Introducing Kettlewell Colours

Fashion Over 50- Start With The Basics
My seasonal color palette is Winter. Winter colors are cool, bold, vibrant, and intense. I look my best when I combine very dark colors from my palette with bright bold colors or lighter neutrals. Contrast is my key word.

Black Is A Winter’s Best Friend
The color black is a great color for Winters because basically, it is the absence of color. So any color next to black will pop. Here I am wearing an all-black sleeveless v neck top and pants to create a slimming “column of color”. Black shoes continue the column creating a taller look for this petite girl.
Look For Cardigan/Jackets With No Details
I have added a longer Shawl Wrap cardigan with no buttons or detail. This creates a long lean line, making me look slimmer. ** Notice the longer cardigan hits below the hips. This is important for the pear-shaped body type, you do not want your cardigans/jackets/shirts to hit at the largest part of your body.
Complete Your Look With Jewelry In Your Cool/Warm Tone
I have completed the looks with silver hoop earrings and silver/black leather statement necklace to draw attention up to my face. **Rules for Pear Shape Body is to bring attention UP And OUT away from hips and thighs.
Because I am a cooler tone, I can wear both gold and silver. Silver really works with my skin tone. I could also choose statement necklaces with beads in my seasonal color palette to complement the outfit.
My necklace is the Eccentric Necklace From Chicos

Bold Color + Black
Bold and intense color up top. Instead of the column of color, I have chosen to bring bold and intense color, sapphire blue, up top. The v neckline and wrap front create lots of attention up. Ruching at the waistline is a tool to make you look slimmer. Finishing the look with silver hoop earrings and a statement necklace. I have pushed the sleeves to 3/4 inches to make my body look more proportional.
I could add a camisole underneath this top for added color or if the cleavage was a bit much.

Charcoal Grey + Pine Green
Not everything has to be intense. Here I have toned it down by using one of my seasonal neutrals, charcoal grey. This is a very cool gray color that pairs well with other Winter colors.
Cowl Neckline For Attention Up
The neckline is a cowl neck which is FABULOUS for bringing attention up to the face. Because this is such a bold neckline, simple layered jewelry and silver hoop earrings are all that is needed.
Finishing off the outfit, I selected to add a short wrap in the color pine. This wrap jacket comes as a 3/4 inch sleeve, so no pushing is necessary.

How About Some Zebra?
Like patterns? No problem! Here I am wearing a zebra (black/white) print camisole with a v neckline. It is a great basic that will go with all my bold colors in my seasonal palette.
But this time I am toning it down with pine green Short Cascade Wrap. Notice that the short wrap hits above the largest part of my body. Bring attention to the waist instead of the hips. For Petites, shorter cardigan sweaters/cropped jackets are key pieces for your wardrobe.
A statement necklace, the Eccentric Necklace From Chicos along with hoop earrings help to bring attention to my face.

Playing With Color
Playing in color. This year is my “Year Of Color”. My goal has been to experiment with color and learn what looks good on me. I have discovered a new neutral, mole that works great in my wardrobe. Check out my post, Know Your Neutrals, to learn about exploring your neutral color palette.
So instead of a statement necklace, I chose an infinity scarf (not too big) to use as a “fabric statement necklace”. Trying to open my mind to color, I am mixing a scarf in deep claret (blue/red) with my pine (blue/green) wrap.
Complementary Colors
When choosing colors to work together, the easiest way is to look for complimentary colors. Complementary colors on the color wheel, such as: red and green, yellow and purple, orange and blue

Loving The Blues
Cobalt Blue is my color, a WOW color. When I wear this color my spirt is immediately lifted. So, why do I not have half my wardrobe is this color???
This outfit is a sleeveless v neck top in cobalt blue, paired with a short wrap in Chinese Blue. Black pants take away from my hips and bottom and your attention is easily up and out.
The Short Cascade Wrap jacket is actually 3/4 sleeves so I do not need to push up the sleeves. Finalized the look by adding a statement necklace and hoop earrings in silver.
Fashion Over 50-Shop Kettlewell Colours
It is easy to shop Kettlewell Colours using their US Portal. Shipping is free over $100 and free returns. The delivery time is averaging about 1 week. Stock is currently low, due to COVID shutdowns in their factories, but more will come in early Feb/March. I am eagerly waiting…
Know Your Measurements Before You Shop

Picking out sizes is easy if you know your measurements. Each item gives a guide according to your individual measurements. Each item is different too. For example, I am 5’1, Pear Shaped Body Type, and I wear 12/14 US sizing. For most wraps and tops I will either wear an L or LL. LL is usually because of the bust measurement/hip measurement
Read Product Details To Help Determine Sizing

Also note the fit. Is it fitted, semi fitted, or relaxed. Fitted or semi fitted, you will want to size up. Relaxed fit you may want to size down.
Watch Product Video For Further Recommendations And Styling

Almost every piece in their collection has a product video which describes the piece, makes recommendations on sizing, and shows how you can style it to make a complete outfit.
Kettlewell Colours Pieces From This Blog Post

The Shawl Wrap is a longer cardigan that hits me mid-thigh. I like the no detail front and classic line which makes me look slimmer. It is rather long and dramatic on Petites, but I like drama. For taller girls, this is an excellent selection. I wear an L in the Shawl Wrap due to my hip measurements.

Betty Cowl is my new favorite top. A true attention-getter, the cowl shape creates a V, bringing lots of attention up to my face. Perfect choice for pear-shaped body types. Many larger busted women don’t like the drape. It does have some ruching detail around the waist, especially if you are shorter.
I wear an L in the Betty Cowl Neck Top.

The perfect basic top for layering is the Sleeveless V Neck Top. This top is double layered for thickness so it lays beautifully, not showing any lumps or bumps. In the spring when they will be adding more colors, I will be buying every color in the Winter seasonal color palette. You can wear this without a jacket or layer it with a longer wrap/cardigan. A MUST HAVE in everyone’s wardrobe.
I wear an L in the Sleeveless V Neck Top.

Another favorite piece, especially for Petites is the Short Cascade Wrap. This top is a little flirty with front cascades and short-cropped in back. For taller gals, I would recommend the Mid Cascade Wrap or even the Long Cascade Wrap. This piece is a lightweight cardigan, perfect for all seasons (including a/c season).
I wear an L in the Short Cascade Wrap Jacket.

Longsleeve Faux-Wrap tops are a great look for pear-shaped body types, bringing attention up. This top also has the ruching at the waist. In the spring/summer they carry this top in 3/4 inch sleeves in more colors, which I like better. Many people style this top with a camisole underneath
I wear an L in the Longsleeve Wrap Top, but an LL in the 3/4 Wrap Sleeve top.

The Florence Infinity Scarf is what I consider a “fabric statement necklace”. Very lightweight knit material, this scarf is perfect for adding a POP of color to any outfit. I like these infinity scarves because they have less bulk, much more flattering on Petites.
