Hello, Darlings! Today’s topic is Time To Update Our Outerwear? Coats And Jackets For All Occasions. Here in Alabama, we went from sweltering humidity and a hurricane to brisk cold breeze in the blink of the eye. It will change back, just as fast.
I don’t really like coats. They can be bulky and cumbersome. So I will make any excuse not to wear them. But when the weather gets COLD and I am going to be outside, I want to make sure I have what I need.
Time To Update Our Outerwear?

Going, Going, Gone!
Again, this year is going to be an inventory issue. Here is Alabama our stores do not have a great selection anyway. We have about 3 months where a coat “might” be necessary. But, online is always a great choice for shopping for outerwear. Especially with coats because you have more choices and size selections.
Do You Need A Trench Coat For Rainy Weather?

My pick for trench style raincoat is the Calvin Klein Belted Water-Resistant coat from Macy’s. Of all my coats, this is the one I wear the most!

Lightweight, so you will not feel bulky. I like single-breasted with slightly larger lapels to bring attention up. It comes with a removable hood. This coat is lined, but will not keep your warm on a cold day. This is the raincoat you need when you have on a cute dressy outfit and want to look stylish and stay dry.
Leather Jacket For Stylish Casual Wear

My pick for a leather moto-style jacket is the Faux-Leather Moto Jacket from Chicos. This one is in Dark Jasper, but they have them in black and cream. So soft but not heavy. Wide labels and minimum detailing make this jacket a great choice. This jacket comes in both regular and petite.
Statement Coat
No black and boring for this Nifty 50 Fabulous Gal! I love a good statement coat. Something to wear that is fun. I am more likely to wear a coat if it is not heavy, in a fun print such as leopard/cheetah, or a bold color.

Winter, especially January, can be cold and dreary. A bold color such a hot pink or bright blue can lift your spirits and keep you warm at the same time.
Must-Have For Outerwear Wardrobe-Long Wool Walker Style Coat

This is the coat you may wear once a year for formal events/dressy events. It is an investment piece. One of the biggest mistakes women make is to have a beautiful stylish outfit for a party/event and put on a coat that is not appropriate for the occasion. Remember, you are making an entrance. The idea is to look stylish and chic.

Your event coat needs to be black so that it will be chic, stylish, and not clash with any outfit you wear. Choose single-breasted, very little button details. Such as this one, Anne Klein Single-Breasted Maxi Coat. This coat is perfect for taller women.

What Outerwear With Athleisure Outfit?

Our wardrobes are mostly filled with Athleisure instead of event/party. Especially this year with COVID restrictions canceling holiday parties. So what outwear is appropriate for Athleisure? Try a puffer style jacket

Another Good Option In Outwear Is Fleece

Another good option for Casual/Athleisure wear coats or vest is fleece. Again, lighter weight, less bulky and very comfortable. I have several fleece vest that I wear during the winter for tennis. My Northface fleece jacket is my go-to for weekends at the lake.
