Rules of 3 For Accessorizing

To create a finished look, add at least 3 areas of interest to your outfit (can be more but don’t overdo). It can be jewelry, accessories such as glasses/hats/scarves/handbags or clutch. Printed shoes or a unique wrap/jacket would count. Some tops have unique necklines that don’t need accessorizing and create their own interests. The idea is to practice putting together a complete finished look.

Something to take into consideration, if one piece is bold such as a statement necklace, don’t let bold earrings compete. Choose a simpler earring and let the necklace be the star. The same thing with a scarf- let it be the star and add simpler earrings/bracelets.

Gold Or Silver
Why not BOTH?? Silver is generally thought of as a cool tone while gold is a warm tone, but you can have cooler and warmer tones in both silver and gold. Did I just blow your mind? Or even better, go for mixed metals. Rose Gold tends to be more of a warmer metal.
I am a cool tone and can wear both silver and gold. When choosing gold, I stay away from “yellow gold”.

Don’t know your skin tone? Look at your wrist- cool tones tend to have bluish color veins, warm tones greenish color veins.
Ultimately, you can wear what YOU WANT. This is just a guide to what looks best according to your skin tone.

The same skin tone rules apply to necklaces with color stones. Not only the stones but the metal the necklace is set in. Pearls are better on warmer tone skin. Ever wonder why a necklace you bought just doesn’t seem to go with your outfits? It may be the color tone….hmmm
Earring Style That Looks Best For Your Face Shape

- Round Face Shape- choose drop style earrings for balance
- Square Face Shape- choose the hoop earring style
- Oblong Face Shape- choose stud style
- Diamond Face Shape- choose diamond shape earrings
- Heart Face Shape- tear drop style earrings for balance
- Oval Face Shape- any style will look great
This is just a guideline to help you create a balanced look. Ultimately, you can wear whatever YOU WANT.
Basic Earrings For Accessorizing

Basic Necklaces For Accessorizing
I am a HUGE fan of Kendra Scott Jewelry. Not only can you customize your necklaces and earrings, picking a stone that looks best for your skin color. Most of their longer necklaces come with an adjustable clasp. One day you are wearing a longer pendant, the next and statement necklace.

Rules For Necklaces
If you want to bring attention up, choose layered necklaces and statement necklaces. If you want to bring attention down towards to waist- the long pendant style is for you.
Ultimately, you can wear what you WANT, but these guides will help you in choosing a figure flattering style of necklace.

Best Necklaces For Your Neckline

Add Bracelets To Your Jewelry Selection
Until last year I was not much of a bracelet wearer. Now I love to finish my look with a simple bracelet of small grouping. I do have problems shopping for bracelets, it seems I have a rather large wrist. Bracelets that stretch or are wide bangle shape work best.

Special Occasion Jewelry
You need to have some basic special occasion jewelry in your jewelry box to wear to weddings and social events. These pieces need to have some glamour and shine.

As we get closer to the holiday season, it is easier to find crystal jewelry. If you have a wedding coming up in the spring/ summer, now is a great time to grab your special occasion jewelry.

Basic Jewelry Organizing Tools For Home And Travel

With basic pieces of jewelry, I can quickly and easily put together an outfit and add the finishing touches. I have been cleaning out pieces I don’t wear and being selective on what I add to my collection. Knowing your color tone helps tremendously.
