Need to add some pizazz to an outfit for weddings, parties, or date night? Top off an outfit with velvet. Velvet toppers are a great addition to your wardrobe for fall/winter season. These pieces are truly a work of art and become showstoppers.
Velvet Topper For Fall Makes Simple Outfit Spectacular
Going to a nice restaurant and need to level up your look. Try a velvet topper. These jackets also go by the name of burnout velvet with textured velvet mixed with sheer fabric. The look is stunning.
The great thing about these toppers is that you can wear them as a more casual look or use them as “works of art” for a dressier look by pairing them with all black. This topper was a “shop my closet” find that originally came from Soft Surroundings
Following The Rules Of 3 For Accessorizing
Because the jacket itself is a showpiece and creates drama drawing attention up and out, you don’t need to over-accessorize. Here I wore a necklace and earrings along with my bangle bracelets. I could have forgone the necklace to keep this look more simple. Still following Rules of 3’s because the topper is just an attention-getter.
Velvet Topper For Holiday Parties
I wore this velvet burnout topper I got several years back from Target for holiday parties last year. A very dramatic look with all black velvet top and pants. Not only did I have a FABULOUS look but because of the topper, I could wear the velvet pants and flats and still look appropriate for the occasion and be comfortable.
Velvet Topper For Weddings
I wore this topper from Target for my son’s rehearsal dinner. With a sleeveless dress underneath it worked great for pictures outside in the heat and then provided warmth for the cold a/c in the restaurant. You could easily level up a simple black dress or all-black jumpsuit for a wedding event using a topper.

Velvet Topper For Parties And Events During The Fall
This topper was my splurge purchase last year from Chicos. The stunning topper was worn to several events and dinners to nice restaurants. I even paired it with jeans for a casual look. The lightweight of these jackets makes them perfect for fall or even winter here in the south.

The velvet burnout topper is a great piece to have in your wardrobe for those events, dinners, weddings, or holidays. Simply adding a velvet topper levels up an outfit and makes it a little bit dressier. With the more casual lifestyle, you see fewer dresses and more outfits that incorporate dressier fabrics in jackets and kimonos that allow you to wear a nicer pair of pants, flat shoes and be more comfortable.
