How To Get Cash Back When You Shop Online ?- Use Rakuten

Hello, Darlings!

How To Get Cash Back When Shopping Online Use Rakuten

Do you shop online? I do almost exclusively and want to share with you a tool I use to get cash back when I shop online. I use Rakuten to get cash back when I shop online, It is one of the largest and most commonly used cash back sites. For many years, the company was known as Ebates. However, after Rakuten acquired Ebates in 2014, it decided to officially change the name in 2019. If you signed up for Ebates you already have it!

Ebates is now Rakuten

How Do Cash Back Sites Work?

Cash back sites such as Rakuten work with affiliate networks that represent online retailers. The cash back sites receive a negotiated percentage of the purchase price for referring new consumers. Some of that cut goes to the shopper and the site keeps the rest. Rakuten is both a cash back site and an affiliate network. Rakuten Marketing is one of the largest affiliate programs that I am a part of as an influencer. When you use affiliate links or cash back programs such as Rakuten it does not cost you the consumer any extra.

How Do I Sign Up For Cash Back With Rakuten?

You can sign up for Rakuten using your email address, Google or Facebook account. The easiest way to use Rakuten is shopping online, but it’s also possible to earn rewards in-store as well.

There are a few ways to save money while shopping online. The first is to search on Rakuten.com for a product across all of the site’s participating retailers and find the best cashback deal. Once you do, click through to the retailer’s site and proceed with your purchase as you normally would.

What Stores Offer Cash Back Using Rakuten?

The list is always changing and the deals can change daily. Some of my favorite online retailers such as Target, Walmart, and Amazon all participate in the program. Most of the major retailers are a part of the program including drugstores, Apple.com, Travelocity. You can see a complete list of retailers on Rakuten’s site.

Get Started Saving Money, Sign Up For Rakuten Then Add Browser Extention

The second is to use the Rakuten browser extension for Chrome or Firefox. If you’re on a retailer’s website that offers cash back, the extension will display a button notifying you.

Let’s test it out! Immediately, the Rakuten extension began flashing to notify me that a deal was available. When I clicked the extension icon, a dropdown indicated I could activate up to 1 percent cash back, with the exception of a few categories. By clicking the red button, the cashback deal would automatically be applied to my purchases through the site.

Can I Still Use Coupons? YES!

In addition to earning cash back, Rakuten also finds online coupons and promo codes you can try out to earn additional discounts. This feature is similar to tools such as Honey which might do a better job of aggregating these types of deals. Even so, it doesn’t hurt to have one more tool scouring the web for added deals. You can also use coupons you find or online deals from the merchant.

Can I Use Honey Too? Not At The Same Time

Use Honey along with Rakuten for cash back and coupons while shopping online

You can not use Rakuten and Honey at the same time. If you try, they will turn off each other. But it is good to have both extensions on your browser. Sometimes when I shop online if Rakuten doesn’t have cash back, Honey might offer “honey gold”. Honey Gold is a point system that when you reach a certain mark you get gift cards to stores. I recently redeemed my Honey Gold for $100 gift card at Target and $100 gift card at Amazon.

But I don’t Shop Online, Can I Use This For In-Store Purchases? YES!

Although the idea is to drive traffic to retailers websites, you can find many in-store deals as well. The way this works is that you add a credit card to your Rakuten profile and when you purchase in-store you will click on the link offer and have one hour to complete the purchase using your credit card in profile. Just like online Cash Back, In-Store Cash Back must be confirmed by the store. This could take a few hours or days. Once the store confirms your purchase, you’ll see the Cash Back in your account. I have tested this out yet to see if it works.

When And How Do I Get Paid?

Rakuten will pay out our cash back every three months as long as your balance is at least $5. You can choose to be paid via check or PayPal.

Every Online Shopper Need To Have PayPal

I can’t stress enough that if you are looking for security while shopping online you need to use PayPal. Not all stores offer it as a means of payment but there is the peace of mind knowing that only one place has your credit card information. PayPal will notify you by email when your transaction has gone thru. It will also notify you when returns have gone thru and credited to your PayPal account. You can PayPal to pay money to individuals or businesses in a secure manner. As always, NEVER use debit care online!!!

What Is Pay Pal?

PayPal is an online financial service that allows you to pay for items using a secure internet account. You simply add your bank account, credit card or debit card details and whenever you pay using PayPal, you can choose which of your cards or accounts it pays with. You can also set one to be the default payment method and that will be used unless you choose otherwise.

In addition to paying for items using PayPal, you can also receive money through the service. Any money received sits in your PayPal account and can be used when paying for something, with the balance topped up by your assigned cards or bank account.

It is a must-have for those shopping online. Only one place as your credit card number instead of every retailer you shop at. Not all retailers accept PayPal as a payment choice. Also, if you purchase using PayPal, those purchases must be returned via mail because individual stores can not process your return. PayPal will send you a monthly statement of charges and credits.

Final Thoughts On Topic Of Online Shopping

Online shopping can seem like a scary world, but if you have a couple of tools you can shop securely, save money, and even get cash back. Recently I received my cash back from Rakuten of almost $300. So it does pay to shop online!!!!
