Shop your closet! As we transition from summer to fall, now is a great time to check out the fashion treasures you may have hidden in your closet. Just because something is not the latest trend doesn’t mean it should not be worn. I almost forgot about this top, black and white striped cold shoulder 3/4 length sleeves.
Shop Your Closet: White Striped Cold Shoulder Top For Last Summer
Shop Your Closet
At the time I bought this top in every color because not only did I like the style, it fit my petite frame perfectly. Somehow this got shoved to the back of my closet and now I am reviving it because I really do like the way I look and feel in it. Guess what, no need to spend money, it is FREE.
I paired this top with my simple black pants I bought from the Beyond Travel Collection from Beyond Proper. If you want to talk about value, the cost per wear of these cropped pants is pennies. I can wear them all year long (with boots in winter) and they are perfect for packing for trips.
Bring Attention Up And Out If You Are Pear Shaped
The body type rules for pear-shaped women are that you want to bring attention up and out to balance your top and bottom half. White tassel earrings do the trick. Not only are they fun but they bring attention to my face and my smile and away from my hips and bottom. The striped top also brings attention up as well as the cold shoulders. Everything is focused on my face. No statement necklace needed the top is the show. I do have on the simple silver layered necklaces that I wear every day
Use The Rule Of 3 For Accessorizing Your Outfit
In Friday’s blog post I talked about how accessories can make an outfit and how they are the finishing touch. Try to have at least 3 points of interest. For this outfit, my earrings, the striped top, and the cold shoulder already are 3 points, but I added the beaded bracelet for fun. Because it is black it does not draw attention to my hips.
As we transition from late summer into fall, this top is easily adapted to the changing weather. Add a blazer for a more polished look, or cardigan if you need extra warmth.
Now I need to look to see what other treasures I can find in my closet. Fall is a great time to do a “closet check”. Remove items you have not worn in several years and are not going to wear- items that are torn, do not fit, or are not flattering on you. That way you can see what wholes you have in your wardrobe or find a hidden treasure to pull out and wear.
Organize Your Closet To Make It Easier To Shop
Organize Your Earrings
I found this little gem on Amazon. My earrings were getting tangles up and I was not able to see at a glance what I had on hand. This earring organizer is meant to attach to the wall or door, but I did not want to do that, so I attached it to a small bulletin board and hung it on the door. That way I not only have my earrings organized, but I also have extra space for necklaces that I attach to the bulletin board with push pins.
Made it thru another weekend of sugar detoxing. Feeling really good and sleeping like a baby.
