Hello, Darlings!

I have been a busy bee this week. Lots of spring cleaning and starting to plant my patio pots. I have also been hitting the tennis court and enjoying this beautiful weather we are having here in Alabama. This week’s wardrobe has consisted of my Lands End knit shorts and t-shirts.

Spring Trends Over 50
Everyone is sharing their favorite Spring Trends this week. Not to be left out, I do want to share some of my favorites. Now with that said, I am not a “trend person”. I am more of a “loving it or not” person. Because of my body shape (I am a pear) many things don’t look good on me and I have grown to accept it. That just makes shopping easier.
Loving It- High Waisted Jeans
Thank the Lord high waisted jeans are BACK!! Not only do they prevent the dreaded “muffin top” but many of the jeans have tummy control panels which take away the need to wear Spanx. WINNING!! These are not the “mom jeans of the 80’s”.

My favorites are Wit and Wisdom Ab-solution Itty Bitty Boot Cut Jeans. They come it Petite, Regular, and Plus Sizes. The boot cut style helps to balance a pear shape body. The fabric has stretch but is not so thin it shows all the lumps and bumps, This line has other styles such a straight, ankle, and skinny jeans. Wit and Wisdom jeans are sold at Nordstrom.
Darker wash jeans are perfect for dressing up for Girl’s N

Loving It- White Jeans
Not the best for my body type, but I love them and I am going to wear them! White jeans are becoming an “all round staple” in the wardrobe. But for me, it is the perfect spring/summer staple. The key to white jeans is finding some that are not too clingy or too see-thru (not an easy task). I have not been happy with my white jeans in the past so this year I went on a quest to find some white jeans I love. Found it! Joe’s Jeans Honey High Waisted Curvy Boot Cut. Now, these do not come in petite, but they have a “raw hem” which is the style right now. Not a problem, just pulled out the scissors and cut away. No hemming needed!

Loving It- White Denim Jacket
EVERYONE needs a white denim jacket in their wardrobe. So perfect for slipping on during these cooler days or when the A/C

Loving It- Resin Jewelry and Beads
Time to raid your granny’s jewelry stash. Beaded necklaces, resin, and acrylics are back. This more updated trend takes some of the “best of the 80’s” and gives it a more stylish twist. This trend is good news for pear-shaped gals like me who want to bring attention away from their hips and to their face. Also, you don’t have to spend a fortune on jewelry. Target’s Sugar Fix by Baublebar line have some FABULOUS earrings. This year I have purchased several necklaces from Cato.

Not Loving It- Snakeskin Print
Don’t like snakes and I don’t like snakeskin print. It is hot it is everywhere, it is NOT in my closet. I will stick with my leopard and cheetah prints.

Not Loving It- Living Coral
The Pantone color of the year is Living Coral. Because of my skin tone, coral is not a good color for me. If I wear it everyone ask me if I am sick. If coral is a good color for you, you are totally in luck this year. Lots of coral in home decor and fashion. I have seen it paired with turquoise blue, navy, a soft seafoam green, and even pink.

It is fun to check out all the Spring Trends and how people are wearing them. I am in a Facebook group with some very stylish fashion bloggers over 50. Here is their take on the hot spring trends.

Look To Others For Inspiration
As I am getting older, I think of “trends” more of a do I love it enough to add something to my wardrobe or not. I am not dictated by the latest trend. Hey let’s just get honest, there is a whole group of marketers who spend their days thinking up the latest trend to encourage people to buy new clothes. I am all for updating my wardrobe for a fresh look, but I am conscience of what looks good on me and what I like, regardless of if it is the hottest look out there. I do love looking at what others are wearing. So many ideas on how I can take clothes I already have in my closet and wear them other ways.
Hoping you are having FABULOUS weather where you are. Our weekend looks wet, which is good because the pollen needs to be washed away (less cleaning for me). I have a good book waiting and my Auburn Tigers are playing in the Final Four this weekend. Spring is a busy time of year and I LOVE IT

Hi Regan,
Thanks so much for including me in your spring trends post! I love that you shared options for everyone even if they’re not your thing. Have a great weekend!
