I am at the beach this week enjoying much-needed R&R. Well, for three days I was, now I have a house full ready to enjoy the 4th of July celebrations here on beaches of 30A. Today’s schedule will feature the parade at Seaside, Fl (very patriotic and quintessential Americana). After the Seaside parade, Watercolor has a bike parade thru the neighborhood, with bikes and golf carts decorated in their red, white, and blue. Next, on to the beach where we will soak up the sun, ride the waves, but mostly nap and read a great book. After beach time comes…. DADDY BURGERS. My husband, Dan, makes the best burgers. Patted out thin and marinated in Dale’s sauce, they are so tasty. After enjoying dinner, we will head to the beach where we will watch multiple fireworks displays all down the beach. Seaside and Watercolor have the largest displays, barges offshore set them off over the oceans for a spectacular show.
Decorating The House For The 4th Of July
The outdoor swags and American Flag were all purchased from Target. I am going to grab more of the larger swags for next year. When you get them out of the package they are wrinkly. Just throw them in the dryer on the wrinkle release cycle. EASY
Waiting For The Parade
I love a parade. Emma and I enjoy watching the kids ride by in their decorated bikes, just waving to them and cheering them on. It is hot, so a simple cotton/blend dress and add party beads makes a great patriotic statement. These beads were from the parade last year. I keep a large vase and just add to it each year. Target’s dollar section had some great beads, hair barrettes, and other fun accessories. Stop by and collect some for next year so you will be ready.
Try A Stars And Stripe Scarf For Easy Patriotic Style
This year I purchased some great summer dresses from Macy’s. This dress is the Style & Co Petite Cross- Back Dress. It comes in regular size and many colors including red and navy. They are PERFECT for the summer heat, especially if you don’t want to wear shorts. I added this scarf from Target ($5 in the dollar section) to create a patriotic look, perfect for shopping or out to lunch.
Evening On The Beach- Add a Kimono
For fireworks on the beach, I am wearing the Style & Co Cross Back Dress in Orchard Red and adding this FABULOUS kimono I got from Target. I saw this in the accessory section and grabbed it. You know how I LOVE a kimono. Just a wee bit of sleeve but it looks so stylish on the beach or listening to the symphony concert at Seaside.
Last year I realized I did not have anything patriotic for the July 4th celebrations. The group down here shows their “I love America” spirit in style. So last year after the fourth, I started grabbing a few items to create my 4th of July fashion statement. Not expensive at all, but I have gotten lots of compliments on my style- WINNING!
I hope you have a safe and fun 4th. After my vacation, I will post some more on the wedding. Right now, back to my book and the beach.
