Maxi Dress and Palm Print Kimono For Friday Night Dinner

Hello, Darlings!

Busy season is in full swing.  With all the weddings, parties, and events on the calendar, my husband and I are trying to make time to go on date nights.  This week we decided to “double date” with some dear friends of ours.  It is easy as an empty nester to just stay home on a Friday night after a busy week, especially if you are an introvert like me.  But having friends in your life is important, and it takes work to build those friendships and nurture them.  The summer is a perfect time to make time for friends.  Our local country club has a Friday Night Dinner each week which is a 3-course meal from a fixed menu for a great price.  It is always a fabulous meal and we try to take advantage of it when we are in town on the weekends.

What to wear for a Friday date night?  This week I chose to be comfortable. I love a maxi dress in the summer, so this week I chose to wear a brown maxi dress with a palm print kimono.

I picked up this brown maxi dress a couple of years back from Belk. Matter a fact, it was such a good sale, I bought it in three colors: black, brown, and hot pink.  The maxi dress is spaghetti straps with v neckline, empire waist and my favorite, built in bra.  Super comfortable to wear.

Palm prints are the rage this year and I LOVE kimonos. Add the two together and you have a FABULOUS piece for drama and comfort.  The kimono add just a little bit of sleeve to the outfit.  Even though the evenings are warm, you still need a something over your arms in the indoors with the a/c going full blast.  This particular kimono also has some fun tassel detail on the bottom.  You could wear this kimono for a beach cover up too.  Kimonos are versatile pieces in your wardrobe. For me, I like the drama. This kimono was purchased at an online boutique store with limited stock.

Accessorizing The Outfit With Jewelry

Pavla Statement Necklace From Baublebar

Because the v neck was kinda low, I felt this outfit needed some jewelry.  I decided to go with this gold multi-strand necklace from Baublebar, the Pavla Statement Necklace.  Gold has come back.  The green in the palm print and the brown in the maxi are warmer colors and just screamed for gold jewelry.  The Pavla Statement Necklace is new to my jewelry collection and can be dressed up or down. My earrings are the Rona Drop Earrings from Baublebar.  Baublebar is constantly having sales and promotion, so get on their email list.  For a bracelet, I chose to add my Sole Society Mirror Bangle.  I was never really one for bracelets, but I am now enjoying them.  Finally, I wore my FitFlops in a metallic bronze. Love metallics for summer.
