Wow, what a gift this weekend has been! It is amazing the healing powers of sun and warmth in the winter. Everyone is coming out of their hibernation and are almost giddy. I spent several hours just sitting outside. Worked in the yard cleaning out old pots (once they unfreeze), ate lunch “al fresco” on the patio, and just sat out on the swing, chatting it up with my kids. I call that a perfect weekend. What it did remind me is that spring is around the corner. During hibernation, I spent time evaluating my wardrobe and cleaning out. I have a whole blog post coming on my closet organizing project.
But today I want to share with you the upcoming trends for Spring/Summer in fashion. It gives you a peek at colors you will be seeing this year. Not only in fashion, but in home decorating as well. The Pantone color of the year is ….
2018 Pantone Color Of The Year- Ultra Violet
This is a color I do not have much of in my wardrobe. I will look forward to seeing what is out there and if it matches my style. Just because it is the “IT” color of the year, doesn’t mean you have to wear it if you don’t like it. I have already seen in some of the spring catalogs, a more lavender color for spring.
I have this top from Macy’s INC Collection. It is a mesh top with an embroidery pattern in violet.
Pantone puts out a palette of colors that are used by designers each year. It is more of a suggestion.
Here is the Spring Pantone Color Palette for 2018
Again, I am already seeing these colors featured in clothing in the spring catalogs and online previews. For me, I am especially excited about the Lime Punch, Cherry Tomato, and Meadowlark. I have purchased a trench coat (another hot trend for spring) from Soft Surroundings in the lime color
This is the Brixton Trench from Soft Surroundings. Can’t wait to see how it works. Not as vivid as the Lime Punch color, but striking.
Other trends for from last year that I don’t see going away are bell sleeves and off the shoulder tops. This year you are going to see a trend towards asymmetrical necklines.
Here is a top I have recently purchased from Nordstrom. This color is “out of the box” for me. Yellow is a color I have to be careful with. I can look bright and happy or sickly due to the underlining olive tone in my skin.
This sweater is the Halogen Poplin Bell Cuff Sweater in Yellow Zest from Nordstroms. Like I said, don’t know how this color is going to work, but Nordstrom is free shipping both ways so it is worth the try to experiment.
Pantone also provides a neutral palette. The one trend I have seen this winter and already see that it will be hot for spring is white jeans.

White Jeans Are Must Have For Spring
White jeans can be difficult. You have to find jeans or pant that are not see thru and not too heavy. I have ordered several pairs to try. Will let you know what works best. Here are some of the brands I have ordered from Nordstrom
I have ordered to try are the NYDJ Marilyn’s in Optic White and Soft Surroundings Metro Leggings in white. What I am looking for is a higher waist (no more muffin top or pants falling down) and not see thru.
My decorator said she has already seen fabrics coming in featuring the Chili Oil color. Start watching the catalogs, and spring online features to see if you can pick out some of these colors. Not everyone will adhere to this palette, they don’t have to. It is just a suggestion.
Next, we will discuss some of the fashion trends coming for spring and summer.
Right now, take the time to clean out clothes that you do not like and do not fit. You will need space for some new fabulous upcoming items.
