Wow, the last couple of weeks have been extremely stressful. My body is really feeling it. My gastritis has come back full force, I am not sleeping well at night, and my body just aches all over. I have been trying to incorporate some stress relief remedies such as exercise and quiet time, and it helps some especially the exercising. But the stress doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon.
I have gathered an arsenal of products to help remedy some of the symptoms. Here are some of My Favorites for Stress and Recovery.
My Favorites For Stress and Recovery
With my gastritis acting up and all the Zantac and Tums, I have been taking, my body is inflamed. I have weird pain here and there. A friend of mine suggested Milk Thistle. I have been taking it for about a month and it seems to calm things down. There are still flare up when I eat something spicy or have too much caffeine but I don’t have those “little pains” I had before. Make sure you buy a quality product, Jarrow is a well-respected company for quality.
I LOVE and am addicted to this stuff. Two years ago I gave it as part of “My Favorite Things Christmas Bag”. Nothing says calm as much as a hot bath and soothing lavender. The smell alone should bring down your blood pressure. The Epsom Salts are great for those aches and pains that seem to flare when we are stressed out. Use this right before bedtime to help you go to sleep.
DoTerra is the king of aromatherapy and the Deep Blue Rub is fantastic for those aches and pain. It provides a cooling and soothing feeling. You can smell the peppermint, wintergreen, and camphor. Perfect for my lower back and aching hips. The smell alone is soothing and calm. I use this in the evenings right before I go to bed. Helps calm and sooth, two for one…. Winning!
I sweat…. alot…did I tell you I sweat? I have these babies in my purse. When the nasty menopause hot flashes hit, and lately they have been coming on like a gangbusters, I pull one of these out and…..ahhhhhh. The lavender smell helps calm me down and the towelette cleans and freshens. This summer when the humidity was about 90% I had these in my car after a tennis match. Perfect for wiping down your face and body before going to lunch. These were also featured in “My Favorite Things Christmas Bag”.
I have been b12 low for years and we need b12 for energy. My doctor suggests I take a b12 supplement so I researched which was best. The answer I came up with was the best way to take b12 is first by injection (not going to happen-needle fear) and the second is sublingual. Sublingual means by mouth where you hold it under your tongue to allow it absorb. You can do this by capsule or liquid. The best form to use is Methylcobalamin. There are lots of fake vitamins on the market so you want to choose a company who is known for quality. Pure Encapsulation was highly recommended. Last weeks blood work showed my b12 levels have increased significantly.
If you are an athlete or active you need this stuff. I was introduced to it years ago by some tennis players who use it for their sore muscles. Because I play competitive tennis several times a week I have sore muscles, lots and lots of sore muscles. Some weeks I swear my entire body aches. You use Tiger Balm before you workout or play tennis. It helps “warm up” the muscles. Now… FYI, the scent is strong and spicy. People will ask what that smell is but they will beg you for some! I tell people it will warm your sore muscles and clean out your sinus all in one. Make sure you wash your hands after applying. Warning…. do not put your contact lens in after you apply Tiger Balm.
I love the tea you get when you go to Chinese restaurant. Our local one serves a wonderful Jasmine tea. Now I can get that same calming, soothing feeling with my own hot Jasmine tea at home. Twinings Green Tea in Jasmine with a teaspoon of local honey makes the perfect afternoon or evening relaxing treat. It is also great for soothing a sore throat or when you are on the edge of a cold. Trying to lay off the caffeine, this is a great substitute.
I discovered these last winter during a tennis weekend at the beach. I have them in bright green and turquoise. These flip-flops are perfect to put on after a tennis match or wear around the house if your feet are hurting. I have worn them all summer long and keep a pair with my tennis bag for after matches to slip on to go out to lunch and give my feet the much-needed recovery time.
Beatea is a 14-day herbal tea that is supposed to promote weight loss through detox. I did not find any weight loss but I did find it “cleaned my clock” and I had more energy. The ingredients include Green Tea, Oolong tea, Rooibos tea, Ginger Root, Pomegranate, Guarana Seed, Garcinia Cambogia Extract. The flavor was nice and a little fruity (not like other detox teas I have used). You drink it every morning with a meal. It is not harsh at all. Lots of reviews on Amazon for you to read and make your own choice on if you want to try.
These are a couple of the things I have purchased for stress and recovery. Many of the items can be found at Target, others are easily purchased on Amazon. Comment below if you have some of your Favorite Things. I love to try new stuff.
